At the end of last year I realized that there may be an attention/focus issue adding to Kudu's challenges -it was something significant which I (and all the doctors) had missed for 12 years because it was masked by his strong sensory avoiding behaviors and was only evident in his eye contact. Last week we started him on a medication trial to see if it would improve his ability to track conversations and focus. He asked me to post these photos to show you the amazing results.......
Day one he cheerfully volunteered to sort and organized the family VHS collection. Notice the amazing labeling he did and the smile on his face. Not normal for a kiddo who loves order but wasn't able to personally pull it together before this to make it happen.
On day two he realized that the refrigerator was a mess and asked if he could organize it. Being such a good mom - and because it needed it in the most horrible way - I turned him loose on the project. He dove in and did the nasty job without any assistance and with good logic and perseverance.
We can definitely tell that this isn't the perfect long term dose/medication for him - but our first trial into this new area has already helped him do the things he has always longed to do better. The clincher for me came during one unfortunate 'non-theraputic' parenting moment last week. After discovering a monstrous laundry basket dump scene in the basement I threw an ugly tantrum in his general direction. In the past this would have sent him way off the deep end. This time he got upset (because I was upset which really disturbs him) but when I stopped - he stopped. Which is an utterly amazing improvement for him and enough encouragement for us to continue pursuing this particular line of medication and seeking God's wisdom as each piece of the puzzle is uncovered.

Thank you so much for sharing this. I must find the time tomorrow to call my daughter's doctor so I can pursue the attention medication being recommended. We are on a journey towards getting her in a healthier place.
Thanks Kudu for sharing your pictures and your hard work! Great job! It sounds like you and your mom are pretty happy.
Awesome job Kudu! It's one level of responsibility to follow through on assigned chores, but it takes a mature eye to notice what needs to get done and work through it on your own initiative!
This is so encouraging! We are wading through lots of issues and options for one of ours with mixed results. Any kind of organizing is nearly impossible for her. I'm not commenting much - but I'm reading!
