Colorado Springs - Library Blogging!

“….so here I am to worship, here I am to bow down…” that the song my pre-teens are singing together in the kitchen as I have sat down to try and share something of the past few days. It’s true, even though the details of our life sound like a standard country western song we are able to enjoy the journey and find God’s hand in every situation.
The bare facts combined are really funny – the huge moving truck with our mattresses and table for the rental and everything else we own has been stranded in nowhere Iowa for two days with a blown engine and roads to icy for the tow truck. The house we are renting is plenty big enough (especially since we only have clothes/cooking/sleeping bags) and as long as we think about it as a North Woods cabin it meets all of our expectations.
We did get the opportunity to meet many of the Universities facilities maintenance staff over dinner yesterday (they chose not to eat as their job was too disgusting) because the laundry draining caused the sewer to back up into the bathroom shower and flood out into the hall. Relationships gearing up all ready as we had to dance around each other until 8:30pm when they got things cleaned out and cleaned up enough to leave us for the night. They will be back today and I suspect we will have cookies ready to greet them. We already confessed to them the broken window from Lil throwing a shoe in anger but the good news is that there are at least 10 others that are cracked or broken so we didn’t do much more damage than there already was.

Traveling with kids who struggle with autism and FASD issues is pretty much a three ring circus. But we made it, no strangers were bitten in the hidden corners of McDonalds playland, and no one was left in the bathroom at the rest stop. No trailer was stolen, no wallets lost and best of all the members of my van took those last 60 miles with happy hearts – especially when we figured out that the road we were moving to had been blocked off and we had to access it through the back of a university parking lot. Good thing we found student who remembered seeing the sign marking this tiny one lane dead end!

Time is up – for the next 60 days it looks as if I will be without internet, phone or any tv reception in the house. I do have my cell (feel free to call) and I will be sneaking off to the library to blog and pay bills when ever I can. Blessings to you all! D

Thankfully our friends at ANCHOR co-op gave us the Go-Fish DVD when we left on Friday - I played it on my computer over and over and it kept the little ones away from the plumbing mess!

Hi! Camille again! Can somebody send me the Bode's cell phone number so I can bless them with these 2 lasagnas that I have in my freezer? My in-laws, Gary and Lyndell Moberg, attended church with them in MN and told us they are moving to our town. Moving is hectic-- I know! But I'd love to stop by and deliver the meal and help any way I can. We live on the north side of the Springs but are not too far from the University. However, I am not familiar enough with the U area to find the parking lot with the dead-end road leading to their house :) :)

Thanks! My email is kukks11@hotmail.com

Arrrgggghhhhhhh!!!! I miss you. All of you! Every and every one of you. I think Isaac is wanting me to hold him and Lily definitely needs a kiss. Hugs to all, from the tallest to the smallest. Mommy Pam's life just got a whole lot lonelier without you all.
The view from the library looks great. Toto, you're definitely not in the heart of Minneapolis anymore.

SO glad you are there safely, Dorothy, and everything so far has been "fine." ; )

And if you live right behind the campus, then there are some fantastic natureways and parks all around you! Be sure to check out the hiking at Palmer Park, and there is one in Rockrimmon we used to enjoy for a casual outing--both great for shorter "in town" excursions. Farther south of you and towards the mountains is Bear Creek, which was our favorite hiking park. Lots of room for kids to burn off energy around C.S!

We used to attend Fellowship Bible church, on north Nevada, and some friends of ours still go there--the husband also works at UCCS! We also have friends who attend the Presbyterian church downtown--a BIG church with lots of resources, and which we have heard is Biblically sound. : )

So if you have any questions about good local places for families, etc., please do not hesitate to contact me at blesseday at gmail dot com. We don't live there anymore, but have lots of connections who still do, and we will try to hook you up with what you need!

In the meantime, if you find you need a fairly cheap quick meal, try Chipotle! Don't know if you had them in MN, but there used to be one on the corner of Union and Academy--huge burritos that are so fresh and yummy. One wrap makes two meals for me!

Praying for all of you :) Glad you can still smile after all of that! Glad for God giving you moment by moment strength and we'll pray for continued strength!

Blessing to you and your family as you settle into your new life in my favorite city ever! I have followed your blog since we began our adoption journey 2 years ago. I must tell you that your family encouraged us to adopt trans-ethnically when everything I first read felt so discouraging.

It's been while since I stopped by and low and behold you are moving to my hometown. Perhaps the Lord will allow us to meet someday when we are home visiting all the family in Colorado Springs.
We will be praying for your family!

P.S. If you want a church in C.S. that might look a little bit more like your family, you might check out Solid Rock! : )

Oh! I can't believe it. I did SO want you all to be able to settle in without such challenges. But apparently, I didn't know what was best.

I am praying regularly for you all. And if you'd like some more videos, we'd love to share ours with you! Just let us know what would be helpful ...

Blessings!

Oh where, oh where has my Dorothy gone, oh where oh where can she be?

I'll split that Chipotle with you. Chips and guac on the side.
