Candid Thanksgiving Photos....

Leah and Joe entertained us all before breakfast with his attempts to say the names of different states- he is really excited about a "Tuk goind du Codorado." (Truck going to Colorado.)
Daniel's Thanksgiving plans changed so he joined us after dinner for a little Othello, some crawling rounds of hot/cold (because then the big kids don't have an advantage)and a brief but happy bout of being the horsey.

The tree is up with twinkle lights and the rest of the house is decorated as well. Looking at the next four weeks I suspect that decorating would have fallen by the wayside with showings/baby/birthdays/moving and all the 'regular' things that happen during the month of December.

Hi Dorothy,
I'm so jealous you're moving to Colorado Springs without me! LOL I know you're going to LOVE it once you're there and settled.
If I may, could I tell you a little of the city I was born and raised in?
Many folks think of it as a military town because of Fort Carson, (Army) Peterson Field, (Air Force) and of course the Air Force Academy. People in Colorado Sprgs. make friends fast because they are military and will probably be shipped out in a year or two.
The city, I believe has tons of charm. Much more than the "big city" atmosphere of Denver. Although it has certainly grown since I married and moved away 38 years ago. I make trips home on a regular basis to visit my family and groan at how much everything is changing!
The city is basically divided into four sections. The West side, where I grew up. Used to be where all the poorer folks lived, LOL. The East side where the richer folks lived and of course No. side and So. side. The Air Force Academy is considered in the North side of town, on the way to Denver. The South side of town has a large Spanish community.
It's so easy to find your way around in the "Springs" as Pikes Peak is ALWAYS on your West and you can ALWAYS see it! LOL As a young girl I could do dishes and almost touch the mountains as I looked out the window. On the West side of town where I was born are the larger, older homes you may be looking for. Of course it's my favorite side of town. Much more interesting, with all types of people. Very earthy, down home, sort of folks. The main street running from downtown to the mountains is called Colorado Avenue and all other streets run off this street. On the East part of town, are newer and very expensive homes. You'll want to stay out of the East side as it's mostly for Military Officers and retired Miltary officers. Very expensive. The main street going through this side of town is Academy Blvd. and all other streets run off of it.
I can picture you and your beautiful family on the West side of town or Old Colorado City as it's called now. The reason I think this is because I know you like older, larger homes and there are plenty of them there.
Please let me know if you need any further info on the city before you leave to see it. I would be proud to help you. I LOVE Colorado and especially Colorado Springs. (sniff sniff)
As always, my prayers are with you and your family.
